Moon Munkie Mistery Make Giveaway

Only good things come from The Sew Grateful Week. Not only I have made things I never thought I would, but I met many new great blogs to get inspiration and learn. In the last post from Debi making a resume of how many people have participated, how many projects, reflections, tutorials and giveaways, I found a new great idea. Moon Munkie is hosting a giveaway, but this time is a different giveaway. She is offering four prizes but the content of the packages is a secret. If you win you have to create something with the content of the present and blog about it. You can also continue the chain by offering four new misterious packages. I think this is a fun idea. I was going to join hosting a secret giveaway too but, finally, I can't do it right now, I hope I can do it later this year. I can't wait to see what the people create with the misterious content of the parcels (I hope I am one of them). You can join and read more about it at Moon Munkie. Good luck everyone!

Solo cosas buenas salen de The Sew Grateful Week.

Sew Grateful giveaway winner!

Although you can still see new projects and reflections at Debi's place, the Sew Grateful Week is over. It's been very exciting for me to participate. Now it's the time to know who is the winner of my first giveaway ever. It's been fun for me to organize a giveaway, and I want to make it as a professional, so I have made the election through Random.org. And the winner is (I've always wanted to say this):

And the winner is! (siempre he querido decir esto):

Congratulations Liz! The Burdastyle Magazines are yours! You can email me your address to Petitemess@gmail.com. Thank you everybody for your lovely comments and your participation. This is been a very beautiful week. Thanks Debi, again.

Felicidades Liz! Gracias Debi, otra vez.

Sew grateful week - Petite shorts and reflections

Gracias Debi.

It's imposible to explain all I owe to sewing and to be grateful for, because it would be too long to tell. Since I was a child I've been thinking in garments almost every day, if I liked something, I immediatly imagine how to adapt it to my style or my body shape. Sewing has helped me to take this ideas out of my head, and although I've not been very active, to know that at a given moment I can create something makes me happy. Just thinking about sewing makes me happy, I've sewn more mentally that I've really done. But this is about to change. And I'm grateful for this change. Now I have a place where I can sew, and I love it. I'm sew grateful to my family for their support in my love to sewing, my sisters who wear my garments and inspire me to keep on working and make sewing my job. I would love to but I have a lot to learn. I'm grateful to the world of sewing blogs, full of talented and creative people, that inspire me and make me want continue with my sewing. Since I'm in this blog world I've only heard kind words. And grateful to the Sew Grateful which has permited to know a lot more, to make my first giveaway and tutorial, two things I didn't think I could do and it's been fun. Thanks Debi.

This pants are more an experiment than something I really wanted to make. I wanted to use the  leftovers of the fabric I used to make the facing on my Petite coat, so I made these shorts. I wanted to make something simple but not boring, so I decided to make some scallops and sewed some buttons to cheer them up, apart from that, they are ordinary pants, nothing especial as for patternmaking. They're lined with the leftovers of the lining of the Petite coat (you have to make most of everything). This is the first time I line a pair of pants and although I searched in my books "Burda: Costura Fácil" and "Complete guide of sewing", I made it my own at the end. Next time I make them, (I have an order, well, my sister wants a pair) I have to find another way, because this finishing is not very neat. I had everything I used in my stash, even the zipper in the same colour than the fabric, I only bought the buttons, so I could say they've costed me only 8 euros. I think they're very cute.

With the exciment of participating in The Sew Grateful Week, I forgot to say that you can leave your coments here to win the two Burdastyle magazines till Sunday 12 at 12 a.m (Spanish time). I will anounce a winner on Monday. More giveaways, tutorials, reflections and projects at My Happy Sewing Place.

Sew grateful week tutorial

Sew Grateful Week

This is the first time I make a tutorial. I never thought I would make one. I'm very bad at giving indications in my own language, please excuse me if I miss something or I confuse the words.I don't think I have many skills that you, talented people, don't know yet. So I've decided to make a tutorial about something I learned recently by making a coat. I wanted to make loops, but I wanted them to be more rigid and looking in my books for tips I found this, but with less explanation and photographs. I hope it's useful.

Fold a piece of fabric on the bias
Dobla un trozo de tela al bies

Cut a strip about 3 cm
Corta una tira de unos 3 cm

You can use any cord you like, I found this in a 1 euro shop

Cut the cord the double the length of the bias strip and pin the bias around the cord.

Sew it with a zipper foot
Cosélo con un pie para cremalleras

Cut the seam up to 3 mm
Corta la costura hasta 3 mm

Sew the top opening of the bias to the cord
Cose la abertura del bies al cordón

Turn the bias over the cord to cover it

This is how it looks
Así queda

Now you have your loop

Sew grateful week

Sew Grateful Week

I've just found this incredible idea through Andrea from Four Square Walls: The Sew Grateful Week, hosted by Debi from My Happy Sewing Place. I have participated in two of the giveaways one from Andrea and the other from A Fashionable Stich, so I think  I have to give something in return to this generous sewing community. I would like to be able to host a giveaway, but I don't have many followers, so I thought maybe I could make a tutorial, but I think I don't have the skills to do that. Of course I can write about why I am sew grateful, and there are a few things I have to finish that I can post on Saturday. Or maybe I can do everything but in a little way. So I've decided to make a little giveaway. I  have two Burdastyle magazines from last year if you want them you have to leave a comment below, you don't have to be a follower to participate but if you do, I will be happy. These are the magazines (they are in spanish):

Sorry for the blurry photo

I would love to make a great giveaway but that's all I can offer by now, maybe I can put some surprises in the package if I have something else. I hope you like it. Tomorrow I will try to make a little tutorial.
