Sew grateful week

I've just found this incredible idea through Andrea from Four Square Walls: The Sew Grateful Week, hosted by Debi from My Happy Sewing Place. I have participated in two of the giveaways one from Andrea and the other from A Fashionable Stich, so I think  I have to give something in return to this generous sewing community. I would like to be able to host a giveaway, but I don't have many followers, so I thought maybe I could make a tutorial, but I think I don't have the skills to do that. Of course I can write about why I am sew grateful, and there are a few things I have to finish that I can post on Saturday. Or maybe I can do everything but in a little way. So I've decided to make a little giveaway. I  have two Burdastyle magazines from last year if you want them you have to leave a comment below, you don't have to be a follower to participate but if you do, I will be happy. Draping/Modelaje

El año pasado volví a clase de corte y confección, después de unos años de abandono total. Mi idea era centrarme en el patronaje. Aunque no soy una experta en el patronaje, empezaba a aburrirme un poco, así que cuando mi profesora dijo que iba a dar clases de modelaje no me lo pensé dos veces. Bueno, en realidad,  lo pensé bastante por que no estaba segura de abandonar el patronaje en plano, pero quería aprender modelaje que, además, era una cosa nueva para mí, y no podía estar en las dos cosas, tanto por tiempo como por dinero. Así que al final me decidí por el modelaje. En mi primer día estaba muy nerviosa, con muchas ganas y la verdad es que no me ha decepcionado. Me encanta y estoy muy contenta con mi decisión. No puedo esperar al viernes para seguir aprendiendo, así que practico en casa.
También estoy haciendo unos pantalones con los restos de la tela que compré para hacer las vistas de mi Petite coat que espero enseñaros pronto.

Last year I returned to sewing classes, after a few years of total neglect. My idea was to focus on pattermaking. Although I´m not an expert in pattermaking, I began to getting bored, so when my teacher said she was giving draping classes, I didn't think twice. Well, actually, I quite thought it because I wasn't sure about leaving flat pattermaking, but I wanted to learn draping that, besides, was a new thing for me, and I couldn't be in both things, both money and time. So, at the end I decided for draping. In my first day I was very nervous, eager to learn and, the truth is it hasn't disappointed me. I love it and I'm very happy with my decision. I can't wait till Friday to keep on learning, so I'm practising at home.
I'm also making a pair of shorts with the leftovers of the fabric I bought to make the facings on my Petite coat that I hope I show you soon.

Petite coat

Aquí está mi nuevo chaquetón.Ya era hora después de tres meses. Estoy muy contenta con el resultado, aunque tengo que perfeccionar el patrón, sobre todo en la zona del cuello donde, al intentar hacer el pliegue, hay un exceso de tela que no me gusta como queda, aunque esa era la idea inicial. Me gusta mucho el efecto de los cuadros en los pliegues. En las presillas utilicé una técnica que encontré en mi libro "Manual completo de costura", que consiste en rellenar una tira de bies con cordón para hacer la presilla más consistente. Otra técnica que usé de este libro fue poner un trozo de hiladillo en la zona delantera del bolsillo integrado en la costura. Utilizé cinta para dobladillos fusible para estabilizar los pliegues. Aunque no tiene mayor dificultad este abrigo, he aprendido alguna cosilla como: comprobar si hay tela suficiente  para el patrón elegido y el tipo de tela, si es de cuadros tendrá que haber tela suficiente para casar los cuadros. Esa es la razón por la que mis mangas no son iguales. Otra cosa a tener en cuenta en los patrones asimétricos es la colocación correcta del patrón al cortar entretela y forro, ya que existe la posibilidad de cortarlos al revés, ya sabéis por que lo sé. Estoy muy contenta con mi abrigo, aún lo tengo puesto en el maniquí y le abrazo de vez en cuando de lo que me gusta. Me gustaría hacerle otra vez en el futuro, tal vez con un cuello más alto y envolvente y con ojales en vez de presillas, y seguramente con cuadros.

Here it is my new coat. It was time after three monts. I'm very happy with the result, although I have to improve the zone of the collar where by making the pleat, there is an excess of fabric that I don't like how it looks, although it is the inicial idea. I like a lot the effect of the plaid in the pleats. In the loops I used a technique of my book "Complete book of sewing", that consists in fill a bies strip of fabric with cord to make the loop more consistent. I used fusible hemming web to stalize the pleats.The coat has no much difficulty, but I've learned a few things like: testing first is there's enough fabric for the chosen pattern and the type of fabric, if it's plaid it'll have to be enough fabric to match the plaid. That's the reason my sleeves are uneven. Another thing to keep in mind in the asymetric patterns is how you put the pattern for cutting the interfacing and the lining, it exists the posibility of cutting them on the opposite, you know why I know it. I'm very happy with my coat, it's still on the dress form and  I hug it sometimes that's how I like it. I would like to make it another time in the future, maybe with a higher  and wrapping collar and with buttonholes instead of loops, and surely with plaid.
